Lifting Column

Data Sheet – M4.202

ROEMHELD’s lifting devices help reduce incubator assembly labor.

ROEMHELD’s lifting devices help reduce incubator assembly labor, pictured here, and other medical applications. The lifting columns for assembly and handling consist of numerous modules that provide the optimum ergonomic position of objects for manual assembly of medical devices. The basic manipulations are horizontal and vertical rotation, tilting, lifting, placement, and movement. The units can be combined into modular systems for loads from 22 to 1325 lb [10–601 kg] with manual or electrical operation. A rotary module with media feed-ducts allows for the hydraulic, electrical, or pneumatic operation of devices held by zero-point clamping systems without complex boring.

Magnetic Platens

Data Sheet – 1.1134

Permanent magnets have found their way into medical applications in injection molding machines. Demand for plastic medical components has grown and companies are looking to shorten their lead times without sacrificing product quality.

Medical devices have specific requirements and are highly regulated so there is no room for error and that is where permanent magnets become resourceful. Using the advanced magnetic clamping technique by ROEMHELD, molds can be changed even when they are hot as the operator will not make contact with them at all. The magnetic plates have a complete metal surface with no T-slot between the heating and the tool, temperatures inside the tool are quite homogeneous, which gives an enhanced production quality. All M-TECS 120 magnetic clamping systems are customized and manufactured to meet customer-specific applications.

Use in Hospital Bed

Use in Therapy Bed

Özpinar Therapiegeräte, a school in Germany, needed help to figure out a way to raise their student treatment tables. ROEMHELD helped design a table with a hydraulic drive to raise up and down. Compared to electric drives, hydraulic actuators are particularly durable and almost maintenance-free. In addition, no power connections are required, so that there are no annoying cables that can quickly become a trip hazard in practices and schools without floor sockets.

Use in Activity Chair

Rifton Equipment designed and brought to market a seating system called the Activity Chair. Used in therapy, feeding, and activities, the chair features a height-adjustable base, allowing vertical position changes while the person remains seated. ROEMHELD’s foot-operated Hydraulic Linear Actuator Pump was used as a base to allow a caregiver to make adjustments quickly and easily, depending on the activity.

Use in Incubator Assembly Workstations

Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global market leader in laboratory technology, designed new incubators for medical engineering and health research, to cultivate human and animal cells. The company used Modular Units for Assembly from Roemheld, which can be combined to lift, tilt, rotate or move, with horizontal and vertical rotation, to increase productivity and reduce operator fatigue. In pre-assembly, an employee covers all 5 sides of the incubators with heated foils, so the container has to be rotated several times.  ROEMHELD designed a line of four assembly workstations, comprised of an electronic Shop-Floor lift module with a stroke of 8 in., which can be lifted and lowered by a pushbutton, and a rotary module.
