What are today’s Challenges for Plastic Molders?

To stay competitive, plastic injection molders must reduce costs with smaller lot sizes, less inventory, and shorter production runs. These initiatives demand more mold changes which in turn requires more costly downtime and maintenance. One of the main obstacles for plastic molders is the speed at which various steps in the mold-making process can be completed while still ensuring product quality, and that is where ROEMHELD Hilma’s highly effective and efficient solutions can help you.

How do ROEMHELD’s Solutions help your Plastic Injection Molding Process?

ROEMHELD Hilma offers a broad portfolio of system solutions that can be optimized for each step in the injection molding process. This includes the mold maintenance & design, mold functionality, and the mold changing process. In order to maximize your profitability, each step needs to be considered. Through our highly engineered expertise, ROEMHELD’s engineers can provide solutions for your injection molding machines that will effectively streamline your operation and implement Lean Manufacturing, a primary driver of profitability. We will help outline the different variables within your molding process and come up with solutions that fit your shop’s specific needs. You can expect the following benefits from ROEMHELD solutions:

A quick mold change means that the current mold is quickly and safely removed from the press and exited while the new mold is secured efficiently in the proper position. With Quick Mold Change solutions from ROEMHELD, the mold is clamped in the same place, the same way, every time. Because of this, mold changes are accomplished in the shortest time possible, eliminating waste and implementing a Lean Manufacturing process. In addition to integrating mold clamping systems, ROEMHELD can offer a complete quick mold change system solution that includes mold roller bars & mold transportation carts. With mold change times slashed, a quick return on investment will convince plastic molding manufacturers that ROEMHELD Hilma offers the solutions for today’s market demand.

M-Tecs Magnetic Platens

M-TECS Magnetic Platens utilize long-pole technology which incorporates double magnets to increase clamping force. The time to change molds of different sizes can be as quick as a minute and does not require retooling. The technology of magnetic clamping plates is based on the principle of an electro-permanent magnet which means that it remains safely clamped even in the event of a power failure. Electrical power is only needed for 2 to 3 seconds to clamp and magnetize or to unclamp and demagnetize the die. Once in operation, the magnetic platens no longer need any power.

With magnetics, you can expect to reduce downtime and labor costs related to mold changeovers while increasing operator safety. They have a max. working temperature: 120°C and a specific magnetic force: of 18 kg/cm² (directly at the pole). Plate thickness is 47mm.

Roll your molds easily into place. Roller and ball lifters make mold changes fast and efficiently. For heavy loads, for linear movement of molds: On the underside of the roller bar, lifting pistons are provided. The pressure is applied to these pistons using hydraulic pressure generators, which lift then the complete roller bar. The mold positioned on the roller bars is not in contact with the tabletop and can be easily moved.

Mold Maintenance & Design Solutions

Click below!

In a plastic manufacturing environment, consistent quality parts start with a quality, well-made, and maintained mold. The process should include a solid mold design and a high-quality tool build. A quality made mold design is essential when producing parts in high volume, as well as consistent maintenance to ensure a long-term mold performance. You’ll have fewer big repairs, which lowers your operating costs and reduces the usage of spare parts. The mold design is one of the most important parts of the production process because it’s the earliest opportunity to prevent costly mistakes in the future. The solutions listed below will help the mold maintenance and design of the mold in the injection molding process.
